Back to school, back to craziness

I cannot tell a lie! I’m not liking the new back to school routine! I loved the lazy days of summer and waking at 6:45 am instead of 5 am! I loved that my kids were home and I didn’t have to rush them out the door to school. And I also loved not being on a schedule!! No sports, no school, no rushing around – period!! No excess paperwork coming home from the school and no planning dinners that correspond with our nightly schedule of activities and best of all NO HOMEWORK!

I know I’ll get back into the swing of things soon. I know this season of life won’t last forever, but with my youngest still in preschool I have many years of Back to School Nights, paper mountains, lunch making and meal planning ahead of me.

This week is the first week of the start of school that we have something going on every night of the week and also on Saturday. My calendar is jam packed with the kids schedules and reminders of what I need to do. So I’ve been focusing on planning Healthy, make-ahead meals in order to speed things along at night. I’ve been sharing them with my friends on my Facebook page, “Jessica Watters, Cooking & Healthy Lifestyle Coach. So far the recipes that I’ve made have been a bog hit with the family and I’ve had enough for lunches. I recently bought Thermos Food Jars for my boys so they can take things like pasta, soups, vegan stews & chili.

I’m on a mission to get really organized! I found some really cool ideas here.

Of course a real sanity saver for all of this back to school craziness has been working out. Honestly, I don’t know how I’d function without yelling and losing my cool if it weren’t for exercise. I just finished Chalean Extreme, which I absolutely loved!! I notice some nice definition in my arms and legs! I’m thinking about starting Turbo Fire next or doing a hybrid of both. I started running in July and Chalean Extreme was an easy program to incorporate into a running schedule. I’m curious to see how adding Turbo Fire will impact my runs.

Well, I hate to admit this, but I’m feeling very sleep! Waking at 5 am and keeping a home of 4 kids and 1 husband somewhat organized is mentally draining!

I’d love to hear from you! Please leave a comment below with some of your favorite back to school tips!

Love & light!

Jessica

Totally feel for you! I’m going through the same thing with my youngest son. Starting way to early now!
